Abstract:Starting from the Bohr Hamiltonian, a new formula is obtained to describe the γ-soft nuclei in terms of introducing an effective potential. The formula is fitted to the data.of the yrast lines of standard γ-soft nuclei. The relative errors are not beyond five percent.
